Acts Teens Revo Camp 2009 saw 122 people, 95 teens and 27 adults, coming together for four days of live-changing experience and fun. The camp took place from 6-9 December 2009 at MBS Kuang, Rawang.
The camp started off with crazy games. Admittedly not as disgusting as previous years, according to campers, it was nonetheless anything but neat with chili sauce, marshmallows and flour thrown into the equation.
Perhaps one of the most looked forward to part of the camp was the Water War II. We saw groups trying to bring each other down with their water guns while trying to avoid random attacks by the adults.
There were also side games such as Guardian Angel, free time spent in the swimming pool and playing basketball and badminton. But all these didn’t tire the campers out as they were still charged up and gave their best during worship at the sessions.
We had amazing speakers at the camp, namely Pr Kenneth and Pr Andy. Pr Andy started off the first session talking about matters of the heart and asked the question that begs an answer: where is our heart? Pr Kenneth shared on honour and the importance of honouring God because that helps us reach our destiny. Pr Kenneth also reminded us that the new normal is really the old truths, which have been neglected by today’s society.
We also had three workshops; Inter-communication skills by Pr Alex, Personality and career by Dave Yeow and Boy Girl Relationship (BGR) by Pr Sandra which caught the full attention of the campers.
Of course, which camp is complete without a final night of showdown. We had all the groups showcasing their acting talent and we were entertained by numerous acts related to Bollywood (it being one of the words we had to use in the sketch). But the camp committee took the cake when they took the stage by surprise at the end of the night with an impromptu sketch. Campers were tickled by the antics of the adults trying to put together an act on a robbery gone wrong.
For all the fun it was, we believe the camp wasn’t just about fun. We also have a cause for celebration because God indeed changed lives at the camp. Most responded at the altar and chose to live out the new normal. We recorded three salvations, seven rededications and 13 baptism of the Holy Spirit, of which nine received the gift of tongues. Amen!
Many of the teens also had testimonies to share on the last day of camp. Some shared on how God heals, guides and gives second chances. Many also found peace in obeying him and courage in God to do things outside their comfort zone.
It was definitely a camp not to be missed. But if missed it, you did, then join us next year for another live-changing camp and have your own story to tell.
TESTIMONIES
Danielle, 10
Being the youngest in my team, I felt quite small and scared and thought that I was unable to do much. On one of the afternoons, while our whole team was sitting together for lunch, one of our team members suddenly shouted at the table. It happened very suddenly and I was very frightened and upset by it even though it was meant to be a harmless shout to rally the other members to cheer. I went back to my room and cried and felt even smaller. Later, during one of the sessions, Pastor Andy mentioned that we have to be brave and know who we are. So I decided that I can’t be scared anymore and I can’t go on hiding. That night, Pastor asked those who have not received the gift of tongues whether or not they want to be baptized by the Holy Spirit. I decided to that I won’t be afraid anymore and I was going to be brave enough to ask for it. And I want to thank God for he answers prayers. Now, I can happily say that I have received the gift of the spirit and can speak in tongues.
Samuel James, 11
When Pastor Kenneth was speaking on the last night, I felt a stirring like a rushing wind. But when the altar was opened, I didn’t want to stand up. But a clear voice told me to “stand up” and so I did. When I stood up, I heard the same voice saying “thank you”. Sometimes we think we are ok and we don’t need to come before God, but he knows better and he prompts us to come. And most times, it’s best to just listen and obey.
Tracy Goh, 11
Pastor Kenneth had shared about having confidence in God so that we can reach our destiny and not give up half way. And I thought it somehow spoke to me. When Pastor Kenneth gave the altar call, I heard a voice asking me to stand up and step forward. I felt at peace to obey and God has taught me to be confident to lay down everything and to learn to commit everything into his hands. Now, I know that he is in control as long as I continue to commit everything to him.

I am the CF president in my school and most of the time I feel neglected by my friends. They have not been very supportive of what we are doing in CF and it has been very discouraging. However, when I came for camp, I realised just how passionate the people in Subang are for God. I feel God has encouraged me through my experience at camp and I am once again charged up to make CF happening in the Puchong schools regardless of what anyone else says.
Esther Hughes, 15
My family has been in Kelantan for a long time where the majority of the people are Malays. And because I was surrounded by mostly Malay friends, I literally blocked God out of my life. My family relocated to Selangor about a month ago and we started attending Acts Church. When we came, my mom pushed me to attend get involved and after making a deal with her, I decided to attend Home Party. It has been a great experience so far and I decided to come for camp as well. I really felt the presence of God at camp. On one of the night sessions, I left the hall during altar ministry. But I couldn’t run away from God. I saw a bright light at the corner of my eyes, but did not see anything when I turned my head. I somehow knew for sure that it was God and he was telling me that I can start over because he washes away my past so that I can begin again. I am thankful for a second chance and am determine to walk closely with him this time around.

I have a friend whom I have not talked to for over a year. We were close but something happened and I am not sure how to make it right again. One day, in the science lab at school, I was led to commit this friend and the problem to God. I said a prayer and left it be. Amazingly, soon after, this friend came up to me and started talking. God indeed answers prayers and restores friendships.

I have a heart problem that has caused me to be weak and I faint quite often especially last year. This fainting spell has made me quite scared of going places. But God is a wonderful God and he heals. I have felt stronger and better over this year and I am happy to say that I have not fainted at all this year. I believe that God will continue to heal me in the days ahead as I continue to trust in him.

I have always admired people who could go up on stage because I felt it was a very brave thing to do. But I am encouraged by the different ones that have come up and shared their testimonies and I want to thank God that I am able to overcome my stage fright to be able to stand up as well.

I have been feeling very lost in my school’s CF and have been wanting to give up on it. But I knew that God was telling me to hold on and he encouraged me not to give up on CF but to continue serving him there. He has also taught me about forgiveness at this camp. I have two friends whom I followed-up on after they attended the Street Party. But they weren’t happy that they were followed-up on. In fact, they became very annoyed at me and I got upset. But once again, God spoke to me and he encouraged me. And I have decided to forgive my friends for hurting me.
Tham Lilian
I have a friend in school who is very superstitious. She constantly tells me about what we should and shouldn’t do in order not to provoke God. I got worried because I somehow felt that I was starting to follow her. But deep down, I also knew that these superstitions weren’t right and I was determined to seek for the truth. Many times I feel like giving up on my search but now I know that I don’t because Jesus is the truth. And I hope and pray that my friend will also be able to see the truth.
Bianca
I was given the opportunity to lead a team during camp. It was a challenging task because it was my first time and I wasn’t sure what to expect or do. But thankfully my team members were very cooperative and so were the leaders. Thank God for the confidence to lead.
