GOING GREEN IN ACTS CHURCH
By Chin Ji Jian, Writers Ink.
Taken from ACTS Church Minizine Sept/Oct Issue
In this issue we continue with our efforts at ACTS Church in going green. As our latest contribution to the environment, we’d like to highlight our environment-friendly non-woven bags used as door gifts for first-time visitors. These bags are used to pack introductory material like fliers, minizines and other goodies for others to learn more about ACTS Church. What’s more, the bags are biodegradable within 2 to 3 years as opposed to plastic bags, which take a few hundred years!
One other environmentally friendly step that ACTS Church takes involves cutting down on fuel consumption. This is done by people at ACTS Cyberjaya through car-pooling. Teams meet up at Subang church before traveling to Cyberjaya, usually packing cars with equipment and personnel to the brim. This saves fuel and toll money in addition to cutting down on fossil-fuel emissions into the atmosphere. As a bonus, people have warm fellowship as they traverse the 30-minute long journey every week.
So how can YOU contribute? There are many ways to help, and each small step does count if everyone chips in. Here are some other things you can do:
- Walk or bicycle to nearby places instead of driving
- Use energy-saving lightbulbs
- Turn off your lights, fans and especially air-conditioners if you’re going out
- Practice environmental awareness and share it with your friends and family
Of course, if you have any other ideas you’d like to share with us, drop us a line at actswriters@yahoo.com. God bless!
